Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $21,778)

Glynn County Police Department is the primary policing agency for this suburban community located along the 100 miles of Georgia Coastline. The GCPD is made up of 132 sworn officers. The major crimes unit operates within the department to investigate crimes such as robbery, homicide, rape, and sexual crimes against children. Within the major crimes unit, GCPD has assigned investigators who operate as members of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force. Many of the cases investigated by the major crimes unit, particularly those involving crimes against children, require the unlocking of digital devices for evidence recovery.

Glynn County Police Department is requesting enhancements for the major crimes unit of the department, to include the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, a partner in the ICAC task force. The request includes the purchase of software for unlocking devices, a laptop computer to run the software in the field, and tamper-proof bags for storing seized devices. These enhancements will allow the unit to more effectively preserve and process evidence in the field. Amount of purchases not to exceed $21,778.00
