Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)

The city of Ottumwa Police Department will use JAG funds for the purchase ammunition. Specifically, the department will purchase Force on Force non-lethal training ammunition. The department will purchase training ammunition as well. The deparment will utilize the ammunition to develop officers to be effective in high-pressure situations and the ability to deal with the stressors that go along with high stress. The officers will be improve on their ability to evalute and descalate real life situations with the use of training ammunition. 

The disparate jurisdication of Wapello County Sheriff's department will use JAG funds for technology improvements and equipment. Specifically, the county Sheriff's deparment will purchase an outdoor PTZ camera, mounting and communication connectivity equipment. This will enhance their ability to monitor hazards, weather, traffic hazards and the movement of persons involved in criminal activity.
