Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $10,019)

The purpose of this application is to provide resources for the Town of Cary police department to enhance their capabilities for suppressing and managing crime and disorder within the jurisdiction. The Town of Cary has its own sets of needs, and this funding will help to alleviate financial burdens currently being experienced in Cary, NC. The strategy being used to enhance law enforcement capabilities by the Town of Cary Police Department focuses on the purchasing of supplies to establish the agency’s own crime scene technicians that will work closely with Wake County’s City-County Bureau of Identification (CCBI). Funds will be used to purchase supplies that will allow two new Cary PD crime scene identification detectives to be put into place and work within the Cary jurisdiction. The two detectives will be trained over the course of one year, at no cost by CCBI staff, and any supplies and equipment that are required to be successful are required to be purchased by the agency.
