Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $12,826)

Eureka Police is seeking to utilize the 2024 JAG Grant to purchase a tactical white board to be installed in a Patrol Commander’s vehicle and a ToughBook laptop to be installed in the second Patrol Commanders vehicle. Both of these purchases will increase communication, organization and provide a more efficient process for Critical Incidents. Standard procedure for the Eureka Police for critical incidents such as Officer involved shootings, active shooters and any incident requiring a large number of officers to respond would have the Incident Command procedure to start and a Patrol Commander be established as the Command Post. Command Posts are commonly mobile and the Patrol Commanders are frequently needing to shift their positions and move to a different area to provide additional assistance where needed, providing them with the tools to ease any confusion while on scene is vital and important for the overall outcome of the incident.
