Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $25,950)

The disparate jurisdiction of the City of Utica, located in the County of Oneida, New York, will use the appropriated FY24 JAG funds to support law enforcement programs and reduce violent crime. The City of Utica Police Department and the Oneida County Probation Department have developed a highly successful partnership that is committed to improving the quality of life for City of Utica residents using evidence-based approaches. A majority of JAG funds will be used to increase supervision of offenders sentenced to electronic monitoring as alternatives to incarceration and increase patrols aimed at reducing violent crime in high crime areas. Remaining funds will be used to purchase new equipment that will secure crime scenes and provide protection to victims, law enforcement and first responders, evidence, and property.
