Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $34,643)
The Great Falls Police Department (GFPD) and the Cascade County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) are both law enforcement agencies within the State of Montand who rely upon the use of the Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant funds to provide law enforcement services to the City of Great Falls and Cascade County. The grant funds are utilized to support projects and puchase equipment and tools which are not budgeted for nor could they be afforded without grant assistance. The GFPD and the CCSO have utilized an Interlocal Agreement or MOU to disperse the funds in a 60% GFPD and 40% CCSO, split.
In 2024 the GFPD looks to utlize grant funds to createa multi-media conference room which will allow the GFPD to create and disseminate information to the public and state and local media partners. The room will include the ability to meet with community and media partners, video conference with partners not locally present and create media to be dispersed electronically. The CCSO intends to utilize the grant funds to puchase equipment to be utilized by their deputies and investigators. Specifically, they will utilize the funds to upgrade their navigation and anchoring technology on a boat/vessel, purchase technology to allow them to improve interoperability and communications within the mobile inicident command vehicle, purchase a DSLR camera to improve their crime scene abilitites, and purchase ballistic shields to better protect their deputies when responsding to calls or complaints involving armed individuals.
The Great Falls Police Department and the Cascade County Sheriff's Office desire to split the grant funds in the amounts of, $20,785.80 to the GFPD and $13,857.20 to the CCSO.
