Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $49,070)
The City of Pine Bluff will use JAG Grant funds to purchase equipment to equip a mobile gaming trailer for community outreach of youths, Oxygen Software for extraction of cellphone data to aid in investigation of crimes. These purchases will enable officers to gather information that may be beneficial in crime solving as well as possible cr1me prevention for the youth and the younger generation who are becoming victims and suspects in homicides and other crimes. The goal for this interaction is to form a bond between the youths and law enforcement to reach youth who may be headed in the wrong direction leading them into a life of crime.
The Jefferson County Sheriff Department will use JAG Grant funds to purchase in-car radar guns and ammunition. The radar guns will aid in controlling traffic as well as giving a probable cause to stop vehicles that may have been involved in shootings, drugs and other crimes. They will also assist in making the roads, highways and streets safer. The Ammunition will be used for officers training as well as their daily use in their efforts of crime reduction.
