Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $75,851)
The disparate jurisdictions of the City of Joliet and Will County will use JAG funds to support employee wellness, vehicle pursuits and a K9 program. Specifically, the County of Will will use JAG funds to obtain two new canines to replace retiring dogs, and the City of Joliet will use JAG funds to maintain an employee wellness app and purchase additional stop sticks to promote traffic safety during vehicle pursuits. Primary activities for both agencies will mainly involve the purchase of equipment. Expected outcomes include increased drug interdiction, enhanced access to wellness for employees and improved safety for both pedestrians and drivers. While the service area for the City of Joliet projects will be relegated to the corporate limits, the Will County project will serve the entire county and the population within. Thus, intended beneficiaries will include the population at large for the K9 and vehicle pursuit projects and all Joliet Police Department employees for the wellness project.
