Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $77,779)
The Vineland Police Department intends to use its 2024 JAG funding to purchase Motorola portable, hand-held radios. The Department’s current radio system uses the 800 MHz system. However, the State of New Jersey is currently requiring police departments to switch over to the 700 MHz system so that all department will be using the same communication frequency for better communications and consistency across all departments. The Millville Police Department intends to use its 2024 JAG funding to provide police overtime for community policing activities and proactive patrols within areas of the city known for drug trafficking, gang activity, and associated gun violence. The Bridgeton Police Department intends to use its 2024 JAG funding to install a new surveillance security system for the Police Department building. This will include cameras, digital video recorder, accessories, and installation. The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO) intends to use its 2024 JAG funding to enhance community policing efforts and outreach initiatives. This year, CCPO aims to allocate resources towards equipping its Community Policing Unit with essential uniform gear and also invest in outreach materials designed to educate and engage the public on crime prevention, community-based initiatives and resources available to vulnerable populations. Both of activities aim to bridge gaps in access to justice, ensuring communities and those historically marginalized are informed and supported.
