Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $93,755)
The City of Fort Wayne-Police Department (Allen County, Ind,) will use JAG funds to purchase additional license plates readers (LPRs) for its jurisdiction. This reliable and effective technology has been instrumental to the department in aiding in interagency collaboration, intelligence sharing, and the disruption and dismantling of drug trafficking organizations. The purchase of the additional LPRs supports DOJ’s mission to uphold the rule of law and to keep our country safe by elevating the department’s ability to improve response times to real-time alerts, Amber alerts, and traffic stops; enhancing traffic and public safety; deterring criminal behavior, assisting with crime prevention and detection; assisting in investigations; and providing valuable data on crime trends and vehicle movements in certain areas, including managing and monitoring traffic flow during large public events.
