Hillsborough County Local Initiatives

The county of Hillsborough will use JAG funds to support the continuation of the 13th Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Veterans Services Initiative (VSI), of which provides specialized defense advocacy for veterans that come in contact with the criminal justice system.  Success 4 Kids & Families Juvenile Re-entry Education Program (JREP) of which provide educational support to juvenile justice involved youth.  The Red Tent Women’s Initiative will provide formerly incarcerated women, and those women at-risk of incarceration, skills to heal and improve their lives through trauma informed programming.  Funding enhances the veterans court program and strengthens Hillsborough County’s youth crime prevention and education efforts and provides trauma informed programming to both formerly incarcerated women and those at risk of being incarcerated, in an effort to reduce overall crime in Hillsborough County.
