Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $162,373)
The Chattanooga Police Department will use its portion of the JAG funds to purchase new equipment for various units in the department, additional training for specialized units and Leadership training for future leaders. The equipment will allow the Chattanooga Police Department update several areas such as it Training Division with update technology equipment teach new officers in the Police Academy along with In-Service training, provide up to date chairs and tv/monitors/cables for our off site prescient. Law Enforcement is a continuously changing trend therefore, officers must continue receive training to better serve the community. Leadership training to better prepare tomorrow leaders. Other units in the department receiving new equipment to assist in daily job assignments and investigation roles. So with the assistance from the FY24 JAG Grant funds Chattanooga Police Department as whole can provide better service to the community that they serve.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office will use its portion of the JAG funds to purchase equipment for to enhance officer safety and communication capabilities. The equipment upgrade will improve the tactical and patrol units readiness for high risk operations, provide reliable communication for coordinated response, and ensure interoperability with other agencies during joint operations. Most of all provide service to the community that they serve.
