Title of Project: Law Enforcement Safety & Community Service Enhancements
The City and County of Durham mutually desire to improve the quality of life for its citizens through support of law enforcement programs impacting the delivery of crisis intervention and mental health response and by broadening community outreach. Additionally, the City and County desire to enhance community safety and combat crime through the acquisition of critical equipment. The City and County endeavor to accomplish these objectives in the following ways. First by building positive relationships with law enforcement and at-risk youth, reducing criminal gang involvement through education and intervention, continue to build a collaborative community and police partnership, acquire a bumper pull-behind mobile command trailer, and lastly, obtaining ballistic-resistant body armor for the safety of low enforcement.
