FY24 Miami-Dade Police Department Crime-Fighting Toolkit

Miami-Dade County, via the Miami-Dade Police Department will use $383,023.00 from the JAG Program to support a law enforcement program, 2024 Crime-Fighting Toolkit: Compassionate Policing. With the objective of greater compassion between police officers and community members, and without wavering from the primary goal of enforcing the law, this program will improve public safety by (1) upgrading Virtual Reality De-escalation Training equipment, (2) connecting the community to mental health services through the Threat Management and Crisis Response Units, and (3) employing additional civilian law enforcement personnel. These funds will improve both public and officer safety, use limited resources more effectively and efficiently, and leverage results from previous JAG Program investments.
