Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $562,879)

The City of Atlanta Police Department will use JAG funds to purchase vehicles for the Fugitive Unit and ACE (Auto Crime Enforcement) Unit to assist in locating violent offenders, guns, drugs, and apprehend auto theft suspects.  The vehicles will be used in the course of investigation and surveillance patrol within the U.S.

The disparate jurisdictions of Alpharetta, College Park, East Point, Roswell, Sandy Springs, South Fulton, and Union City will use JAG funds for technology, policing equipment, and educational programming.

The City of Alpharetta Department of Safety will use FY 24 JAG funds to purchase collective Data's Quartermaster software module. It will allow the department to manage and track their assets through comprehensive inventory tracking. 

The City of College Park will use JAG funds to advance its community policing program.  They will purchase electronic bicycles to be used to patrol natur trails and city parks and entertainment areas. the addition of this program will increase the agency's ability to provide law enforcement services in areas that are not accessible to vehicular traffic.  

The East Point Police Department will utilize a portion of the JAG allocation to continue to support the Safe Summer Program. The Safe Summer Program is a program that department partners with multiple community stakeholders to offer an enrichment program for youth among the ages of 10 to 16 years old. The program runs for 6 weeks and operates Monday through Friday. We can accommodate 50 to 60 students, who receive a wide range of education to include- mentorship, health and nutrition information, creative expression and physical fitness. The program exposes them to historical sites, cultural activities, field trips along with providing personal enhancement and developmental activities. The East Point Police Department will utilize the second portion of the JAG Allocation to support the National Night Out (NNO) Campaign. This program reinforces community awareness and involvement. NNO provides the residents and youth of East Point the opportunity to socialize and learn of the importance and value of the officers and staff at the East Point Police Department. This program enhances the relationship building within the community in which the police department serves.

The City of Roswell will use JAG funds to purchase digital forensics processing equipment.The equipment will be used by the Roswell Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Unit to reduce the time it takes to process evidence.

The City of South Fulton proposes to use the JAG funds to significantly enhance the South Fulton Police Department’s investigative capabilities through the acquisition of Cobwebs software, including Title III intercept functionality, enabling more efficient tracking of violent criminal & gang activities and providing advanced data analysis tools for law enforcement investigations.

The City of  Sandy Springs will use JAG funds to purchase four (4) Advanced Covert Technology ACT SC410-LEO Surveillance Cameras. The cameras will allow detectives to better conduct surveillance on a suspect where their presence may not be possible, to investigate crimes.The City also proposes to purchase three (3) Bestguarder NV-400 Digital Night Vision Binoculars, and two (2) Kodiak Backpack Breaching Tool Kits. These items will be utilized by Department to allow officers to record photo and video evidence in any light setting. It will enhance evidence collection capabilities and surveillance as it will allow officers to not be restricted by time of day or light settings. The Kodiak Breaching tool kit comes with 3 useful tools and a backpack that will allow officers to be hands free but be prepared with breaching tools in case they are needed.
The City of Union City will allocate JAG funds to purchase laptops for its officers. This initiative aims to enhance field operations by providing officers with state-of-the-art equipment that improves efficiency and safety through GPS integration and real-time updates. These funds will ensure the department remains adaptable to technological advancements, optimizing operational performance and reinforcing a proactive approach to patrol activities.
