OSBI FY24 Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI)

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), on behalf of the State of Oklahoma, requests funding under the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative grant to further test and track unsubmitted sexual assault kits, including the possibility of reopening cases for prosecution while continuing to improve the response to sexual assault crimes through the implementation of uniform policies and promotion of best practices statewide.

With funding through this project, the OSBI will maintain the investigative Sexual Assault Unit created in 2022. The activities of this project will keep momentum moving forward for Oklahoma by providing resources to complete analysis of the remaining sexual assault kits on the certified inventory, provide training to combat the lack of consistent and dedicated focus on sexual assault crimes, and increase statewide collaboration among all disciplines improving the response to survivors. The OSBI is focused on bringing together all of the stakeholders involved, including survivors, service providers, and system players, to see more successful outcomes for all affected.
