Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $1,000,000)
The Illinois Department of Human Services’ (DHS) Illinois Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) is applying for the 2024 Harold Rogers Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Grant in the amount of $1,000,000 for 24 months.
The purpose and objectives for projects proposed in this application are to: augment the PDMP system; improve the quality and accuracy of PDMP data; Assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the PDMP program; produce and disseminate educational materials; facilitate electronic information sharing among states.
Primary activities proposed by the PMP include a redesign of the registration process; create new data sets, create survey for active and nonactive users, create a “unique” user profile; and developing education materials on the PMPnow to disseminate to users.
Expected outcomes from the proposed projects include increased utilization of the PMP by making the registration process automated; improved exchange and flow of data; understand the PMP user base and cater more to the functions or capabilities they are looking for from the PMP; increased education and awareness of all the function of the PMP and various integration vendors available in the State of Illinois.
Projects proposed for this funding opportunity will serve and benefit all Illinois prescribers, dispensers, healthcare providers, and the more than 12.58 million Illinois residents. The projects will also serve some surrounding States’ providers and residents.
