Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $500,000)
The Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) proposes to continue to provide ongoing, consistent support to the Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative (Global). This effort, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), supports the improvement of information and criminal intelligence sharing to meet the current and emerging information sharing challenges faced by state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) justice and public safety agencies.
IIR will facilitate, advance, and comprehensively support Global’s efforts to identify, recommend, develop, and disseminate valuable justice information and criminal intelligence sharing solutions for the SLTT justice field. IIR will work with Global and BJA leadership to develop practical and effective guidance, policies and best practices, and training and technical assistance (TTA) of national scope to enable criminal justice agencies to prepare for, and proactively address, current and emerging challenges. In coordination with BJA, IIR will work with the Criminal Intelligence Coordinating Council (CICC) to support the development and adoption of criminal intelligence sharing solutions and guidance. IIR will work with the recently reconstituted Global Standard Council (GSC) to identify issues related to information sharing standards and develop recommendations and solutions.
