Muscogee (Creek) Nation is a federally recognized tribe located in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma. The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Youth Services will develop a pilot project to decrease juvenile court involvement for 400 Native American youth within the MCN reservation, by 25%. Goal 1 is to institute the Nene Heran Ohhvyvs (Take the Good Road) Program. Objectives for this goal are to advertise, interview, and hire a Project Coordinator to institute and manage the Nene Heran Ohhvyvs (Take the Good Road) Program; assemble and Facilitate a Diverse Project Steering Committee; establish Project Policies; and Develop Project Forms and Database. Goal 2 is to establish and facilitate seventeen (17) Restorative Justice Talking Circles. Goal 3 is to increase personal protective factors to support 250 youth, ages 12-17. Objectives for this goal are to provide case-management including assessment, wellness planning, and resource referral for youth participants of the talking circles; connect 250 youth talking circle participants with mentors and implement cultural activities to increase protective factors; provide life skills classes for participating youth; and implement a Youth Thrive Curriculum. Goal 4 is to increase community awareness of restorative justice practices to 400 (four hundred) youth and adults through community trainings.
