Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $508,245)

The Blackfeet Tribe is a federally recognized tribe located in Glacier County, Montana. The Blackfeet Mio’ohpókoiksi (Bunched Stars) Project will serve to provide activities and resources that will prevent victimization of participants of the Blackfeet Juvenile Healing to Wellness Court Projects (BJH2WC), by reducing risk and strengthening protective factors, improving screening, and partnerships with key stakeholders. BJH2WC will create the Mio’ohpókoiksi (Bunched Stars) Project to enhance the BJH2WC by providing prevention activities that will prevent victimization by reducing risk and strengthening protective factors for 20 participants-age 12-21-for each of the five years of the enhancement for a total of 100 youth served. The Project will also seek to enhance the current screening instruments to more properly place youth in the Project who are at most need of intervention because of risk factors, improve partnerships, and better guide staff in development of treatment plans and services.
