The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes Tribal Youth Program will develop and implement a new juvenile wrap around program for tribal youth ages 12-17 living in the tribal community to assist with educational expectations, minimize youth truancy, drop-out rates, delinquency, teen pregnancy, drug use, depression and suicide through prevention, intervention, and counseling to increase a youth’s leadership potential. They will provide holistic cultural services to youth in areas like good physical and mental health, support driven education and job preparedness. The program will address the juvenile crime and public safety problems with a goal to reduce youth referral rates and prevent and reduce juvenile delinquency by hiring additional staff, conducting staff orientation/training, purchasing supplies and resources for client supportive services, developing a juvenile wrap around program with numerous partners, and implementing/operating the Wichita Tribal Youth Program over a 5-year timeframe.
