Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $99,995)
The Chippewa Cree Tribe (CCT) Tribal Youth Program will conduct a needs assessment and strategic planning activities with key groups of stakeholders, including youth, elders, Tribal Council, and staff partners across multiple departments to address the pressing needs on the Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation relevant to address youth exposed to violence, court-involved youth, and at-risk and high-risk youth while focusing on trauma-informed and culturally competent care. With funding under Purpose Area 9, CCT will (1) identify and establish a core planning team; (2) conduct quarterly meetings with the core planning team and OJJDP TTA providers to identify short- and long-term goals and support efforts to organize a community needs assessment that highlights strengths and weaknesses of the CCT juvenile justice system; (3) create, distribute, gather, and analyze a community needs assessment; and (4) draft and finalize the CCT Tribal Youth Program strategic plan that will be available to the CCT community.
