Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $450,000)

Central Council Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska requested funding to further sustain the Tribe’s commitment to ameliorate the abuse of Native children in Juneau. With this funding, Central Council Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska will: support 1.5 Tribal Child Safety Representatives to provide investigations and forensic interviewing, preparation, and support for child victims to participate in judicial process; and provide culturally, strength-based case management for child sexual abuse victims and families. The project will increase multidisciplinary responses to Native child abuse victims and families; expand provision of trauma-informed, culturally relevant wrap-around services to a maximum of 300 targeted Native child abuse victims and their families.
