Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $450,000)
Swinomish Indian Tribal Community requested funding to establish a new advocacy program. This program will provide child victims and non-offending families intervention and wrap-around services. With this funding, Swinomish will: 1) hire a 1.0 FTE Child Victim Advocate to minimize trauma in the investigation, prosecutorial, and judicial process; and 2) support 0.25 FTE Child Abuse Investigator to facilitate handling child abuse cases. Both the Child Abuse Investigator and the Child Victim Advocate will be housed in the tribal police department.
