Tonkawa Tribe Children's Justice Act Partnership Project

The Tonkawa Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma (Tonkawa Tribe) requested funding to develop a new program to address investigation, prosecution, and victim advocacy for child abuse and neglect cases that will minimize trauma to child victims. With this funding, Tonkawa Tribe will Hire a Program Coordinator and a Special Prosecutor; train a Child Protection Team to help with investigations; develop policies and procedures; establish MOUs for community referrals; conduct community outreach; develop support groups for recovery and healing for victims and their households; and provide supportive services, such as accompaniment to court proceedings.
