Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $5,717,241)
The Arizona Department of Public Safety serves as the fiduciary agency for the Rocky Mountain Information Network (RMIN). RMIN is one of six projects that make up the Regional Information Sharing System (RISS). Each project links agencies from neighboring states into a regional network that interacts with the other projects using a secure, web-based, cost-effective law enforcement dedicated network called RISSNET. In addition, the RISS projects encourage multi-agency communication and facilitate information sharing between all law enforcement and criminal justice agencies to fight today's mobile and sophisticated criminals. The overall goal is to enhance the ability of state and local criminal justice agencies to identify and remove criminal conspiracies and activities spanning jurisdictional boundaries.
RMIN and the other five RISS projects provide a regional focus within this national network giving member agencies secure, reliable, state-of-the-art communications and intelligence sharing capabilities tailored to meet federal, state, local, and tribal needs.
