Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $1,144,449)

The Oklahoma Attorney General's Office is implementing a Statewide Victim Information and Notification (SAVIN) program. Through this project, Oklahoma's victims of crimes will be provided with timely information on their offender's custody status twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week; at all levels of the criminal justice system.

SAVIN programs benefit the public by providing victims of crime with accurate and timely information about the status of their offender and court events related to their case. In this way, victims are able to fully participate in the judicial process, make sound decisions to protect themselves from further victimization, and make sure their rights are being upheld. This information-sharing capability is also available to courts, corrections, and law enforcement officials.

Oklahoma's SAVIN system will use the Global Justice XML Data Model (GJXDM) and associated implementation guidelines.
