The Phoenix Police Department is the Southwest Regional Training Center (SWRTC). The SWRTC trains law-enforcement personnel and provides classroom instruction in gang prevention and anti-violence techniques for school-aged children. The SWRTC is also responsible for training, technical assistance, promotion of programs, program related research, program management, and oversight for the Southwest Region that encompasses: Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah. SWRTC will provide information to law-enforcement agencies on training opportunities available within the region. SWRTC will also inspect and assist in the selection of training sites for GREAT Officer Training (GOT) and GREAT Family Training (GFT), coordinate the training staff, and provide logistical support in the form of curricula, equipment, and supplies.
