Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $75,000)
The New York City Commission on Human Rights, in partnership with the New York Immigration Coalition, will fund a project to educate immigrant workers, employers, and immigrant service providers about worker protections of the Immigration and Nationality Act as well as worker responsibilities under the law. These funds will allow the partnership to develop English-as-a-second-language (ESL) curricula to deliver this information via free classes at a local library. Hired consultants will review the curricula, provide learner assessments, add the curricula to adult education classes, and hold two workshops for employers and immigrant service organizations.
