Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $1,200,000)

The Georgia Tech Applied Research Corporation will continue to partner with the Bureau of Justice Assistance and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to expand the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) project. The NIEM expands the scope of the earlier DOJ-sponsored Global Justice XML Data Model (GJXDM) to include exchanges beyond justice and public safety. The primary goal of both NIEM and GJXDM is to establish a comprehensive consensus framework for interoperable cross-domain information sharing for justice, public safety, and other relevant exchange partners and communities of interest within the United States.
