Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $500,000)

The TraCCC Russia project currently supports three regional centers in Saratov, Chelyabinsk, and Vladivostok, with a fourth center scheduled to open in Stavropol in September 2008. In partnership with its four regional centers, TraCCC will support the following main initiatives during the project period: 1) provide advice and other support to Russian government officials and law enforcement in the drafting of new legislation and policies at the local, regional, and federal levels which are aimed at combating emerging priority crimes in Russia; 2) support law enforcement in the development and adoption of new protocols to increase their effectiveness in detecting, investigating, and prosecuting priority crimes; and 3) build Russia's human capacity to address its organized crime and corruption problems by teaching and training Russia's next generation of police, prosecutors, and legal specialists.
