Capital Litigation Initiative

The National Clearinghouse for Science, Technology and the Law at Stetson University College of Law (NCSTL) recognizes that both prosecution and defense in capital cases need training in: scientific evidence, expert witnesses, researching forensic sources, and specific forensic topical areas. NCSTL will provide two 2-day trainings, open to prosecutors and defenders practicing in states with capital punishment laws. The project will teach how to obtain and use scientific evidence successfully. The sessions will also discuss the evidence necessary for trial, what needs to be sent to the laboratory for analysis, as well as judicial perceptions.
