Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $249,691)
The National Judicial College (NJC) will continue to provide resources and education to judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys in the area of capital cases. They will review the 3-discipline (judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys) training piloted in last grant and develop model 3-discipline curriculum from the piloted curricula. They will identify two states in which to present 3-discipline curriculum and hold curriculum/faculty development meeting with teams from the two states attending. NJC will prepare and present the program to judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys; continue to add content and refine capital cases website; and provide technical assistance to states who receive BJA grants to present the judges' and 3-discipline training.
