The Edward Byrne Memorial Discretionary Grants Program (Byrne Discretionary Program) helps local communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and provides for national support efforts. This project is authorized and funded through a line item in the FY 08 Congressional Budget. Funds should be used for purposes recommended by Congress.
The Dooly County Community Enrichment Coalition will implement their Delinquency Prevention Program to provide prevention and intervention services targeting juvenile offenders. They will provide the youth and their families with a comprehensive array of services including life skills, cultural activities, teen pregnancy prevention activities, conflict resolution and anger management workshops, designed to address the different risk factors associated with delinquency. The Dooly County Community Enrichment Coalition will ensure program participants complete high school on time and avoid being involved in the juvenile court system. They will increase school attendance among program participants, reduce the number of re-offenses by program participants, and increase the knowledge of life skills/coping skills among program participants.
