Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $45,995)

The National Rural Alcohol and Drug Abuse Network, Inc. (NRADAN) hosts an annual National Rural Institute on Alcohol and Drug Abuse that provides cutting-edge training for rural professionals in the alcohol and drug abuse field. The Institute allows an opportunity for rural professionals to network with other professionals along with federal, state, and local experts. The objectives of the Institute are to: provide an opportunity to share information on key issues facing rural communities and alcohol and drug abuse agencies; offer instruction that is unique to the rural population in a professional and personal manner; and, create an atmosphere on cutting-edge training for rural professionals to help their rural communities deal with the alcohol and drug abuse issues of today. Through this award, NRADAN will provide financial assistance to rural professionals so that they may attend this training.
