The Edward Byrne Memorial Discretionary Grants Program (Byrne Discretionary Program) helps local communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and provides for national support efforts. This project is authorized and funded through a line item in the FY 08 Congressional Budget. Funds should be used for purposes recommended by Congress.
The East Carroll Parish Sheriff's Office will upgrade its existing computer system to more efficiently support the fiscal needs of the agency. They will replace their current obsolete system with new computers, software, and a faster server. The East Carroll Parish Sheriff's Office will purchase a new server along with six workstations and train staff on the use of the various types of software. The planned system upgrades will improve internal accounting and management practices and allow the Sheriff's Office to interact with other state-wide agencies.
