Funded projects design and implement public education campaigns to address immigration related unfair employment discrimination by educating workers, employers, and the general public about the anti-discrimination provision of the INA.
The city of Phoenix has experienced tremendous population growth over the past 20 years. A large percentage of this expanding population includes individuals who are not citizens of the United States, but are working in the country legally. This segment of the population is potentially at risk to be discriminated against or may be regarded as undocumented due to their national origin and/or citizenship status.
The city of Phoenix Equal Opportunity Department will conduct outreach to this population regarding their protected status under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). The goals of INA are aligned with the city's mission to eradicate discrimination and to continue its long-standing commitment to human and civil rights.
The city of Phoenix will: disseminate anti-employment discrimination information using television and radio advertising to reach 1.3 million viewers; customize workshops and presentations to educate employees, employers, high school students, and clients of job-training agencies; design postcards and desktop cards for distribution to local businesses; and, will utilize both print and electronic media (e.g. newsletters, e-blasts).
