Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $1,300,000)

The National District Attorney's Association (NDAA) will implement the National Advocacy Training Program. The project will provide Southwest Boarder Initiative training to prosecutors, probation officers, court, and detention facility officials of eligible state or local units of general government from the States of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. NDAA also, on behalf of the Closed-Circuit Televising of Testimony Program, provide training for the effective use of closed-circuit televising and video taping of the testimony of children in criminal proceedings for the violation of laws relating to the abuse of children. Finally, the project will provide PSN/Gun Crime Prevention Program training to participants drawn from or coordinated with the U.S. Attorney and Project Safe Neighborhoods Task Force, or other community justice initiatives (such as Weed & Seed and ATF's Youth Crime Gun Interdiction Initiative) in districts awarded PSN gun crime prevention funds.
