The Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program is designed to assist states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments in developing and establishing drug courts for substance-abusing adult and juvenile offenders. Drug court programs funded by the Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program are required by law to target nonviolent offenders. The program supports the following activities: adult drug court implementation, single jurisdiction drug court enhancement, statewide drug court enhancement, and planning efforts.
The Second Judicial District will use their grant funds to improve the functioning of their problem-solving courts through joint coordination and resource sharing. This grant will allow the Psychiatric Court Clinic (PCC) to become an expanded program in the Second Judicial District by extending the services of the clinic to the DWI Court and Mental Health Court. Their goals are to increase the likelihood of positive change in participants; increase the community's role by affecting positive change in participants' behavior; increase collaboration among systems; incorporate injectable medications for symptom reduction and cravings; and evaluate and assess the program and its initiatives.
