The Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program is designed to assist states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments in developing and establishing drug courts for substance-abusing adult and juvenile offenders. Drug court programs funded by the Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program are required by law to target nonviolent offenders. The program supports the following activities: adult drug court implementation, single jurisdiction drug court implementation, statewide drug court enhancement, and planning efforts.

The Judiciary Courts of the State of North Carolina will use Drug Court Discretionary Grant funds for a statewide enhancement grant. This grant will be used to develop training programs and to attend training programs. The focus will be on the development of curricula to support individual team members specifically: DTC judges, all Assistant District Attorneys (ADA) and ADAs assigned to Drug Treatment Courts (DTC); Guardian ad Litem (GAL) staff and GAL volunteers; DTC Coordinators, and new/transitioning DTC team members. Funds will also support the 2010 Statewide DTC Conference. CA/NCF
