The Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program is designed to assist states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments in developing and establishing drug courts for substance-abusing adult and juvenile offenders. Drug court programs funded by the Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program are required by law to target nonviolent offenders. The program supports the following activities: adult drug court implementation, single jurisdiction drug court enhancement, statewide drug court enhancement, and planning efforts.

The county of Solano, Office of the Public Defender, will use the drug court enhancement grant to provide transportation for participants to/from program, court, work and classes; provide access to parenting classes for all participants; expand a current case manager position from .75 to full-time; expand the availability of residential treatment/sober living for clients; provide mental health services at screening and as needed for clients participating in the program; develop and provide training programs for drug court practitioners; and expand program admission criteria to include drug related offenses and drug possession charges.
