Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $892,000)

The Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) will coordinate and facilitate the development of a Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) implementation strategy and plan to support a nationwide rollout of SAR capabilities. Conducted in collaboration with the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), the Program Manager for the Information Sharing Environment (PM-ISE), and the existing SAR steering committee, IIR will provide for the expansion of the Information Sharing Environment Suspicious Activity Reporting (ISE-SAR) Evaluation Environment and the continued development of the Nationwide SAR Initiative (NSI). Additionally, IIR will develop SAR training that can be deployed to law enforcement agencies nationwide. They will also support and develop products, reports, and multimedia presentations to improve information sharing among all levels of government.
