Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $250,000)
The National Correctional Industries Association (NCIA) will implement the Prison Industry Enhancement Certification Program (PIECP). They will provide inmates with work experience and training in job skills that would be marketable in the community upon release. The main goal is the successful reentry of inmate participants. NCIA will fund two critical functions which include the performance of on-site compliance assessments and the provision of compliance-related training for participating jurisdictions.
