Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $500,000)

The Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) will implement the Center for Task Force (CenTF) Training and Technical Assistance Program to provide specialized task force leadership training and technical assistance services to local, state, and tribal law enforcement professionals throughout the United States. The overarching goal the CenTF Program is to increase the effectiveness of local, state, and tribal law enforcement task force operations. IIR will maintain a cadre of subject-matter experts on topics relevant to multi-agency task force operations, provide regional training sessions on task force management issues, provide technical assistance on task force matters, and maintain the Center for Task Force Leadership and Integrity Online Training Program. IIR will utilize its existing infrastructure, including staffing, task force leadership expertise, training coordination expertise, established criminal justice and intelligence networks, and proven protocols, to deliver program services.
