Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $112,000)

The Advertising Council Inc. (Ad Council) will continue to maintain, renew and redistribute the current public service advertising (PSAs) targeted to at risk youth to reduce gun crime and ultimately make our communities safer under Project Safe Neighborhoods. To achieve this goal, the PSAs focus on the impact kids have on their family when committing a gun crime, so that kids will reconsider the extended impact of illegal guns. The message of 'you do the crime, your family does the time' is clearly communicated in all of the PSA executions. The Ad Council will continue to work with the volunteer advertising agency, Mullen, who donates its internal services (labor). The Ad Council will renew the current 'Mothers' and 'Babies' TV and 'Gang' radio.
