The purposes of the FY 2009 Tribal Courts Assistance Program (TCAP) are to develop new tribal courts, improve the operations of existing tribal courts, and provide training and technical assistance for tribal court staff. TCAP program goals are to provide planning grants that will focus on establishing tribal courts by supporting the development of comprehensive strategy and implementation plans, provide grants for existing tribal court systems to enhance tribal court services, and provide planning grants for tribal justice system strategies.

The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians will enhance the operation of their Lac Du Flambeau Tribal Court. They will improve court case and data management by purchasing and implementing a new case management system. This purchase will allow them to improve the court reporting system, implement an automated program management system, and upgrade the Forfeiture Recoupment Program. The Lac Du Flambeau Tribal Court enhancements will improve communications, court system technology, information sharing, and reporting capabilities. CA/NCF
