The Tribal Judicial Institute (Institute) at the University of North Dakota, School of Law, in conjunction with the National Tribal Judicial Center at the National Judicial College and Fox Valley Technical College, will continue to provide technical assistance and training coordination for the Tribal Courts Assistance Program (TCAP). The Institute will expand its training curriculum by providing additional regional conferences to support training to TCAP grantees and Tribes, conduct a training event for Tribes that have unsuccessfully competed for a Tribal Court Assistance Program grant, and conduct regional conferences for state-tribal-federal judges on issues of collaboration and cooperation. The partners will also deliver the second National Indigenous Justice Conference as well as an Alaska regional peacemaking conference designed specifically to address justice issues in native villages and corporations in Alaska. The partners will host on-site technical assistance visits, develop a webinar for FY 2010 TCAP applicants, and continue to coordinate meetings of TCAP training and technical assistance partners. Lastly, the partners will work closely with Fox Valley Technical College to provide appropriate planning and training to interested Tribes on the intersection of substance abuse and criminal justice issues and coordinate with Alaska providers to develop a comprehensive approach to justice in Alaska.
