The Enhancing Adult Drug Court Services, Coordination, and Treatment Grant Program is designed to assist states, state courts, local courts, counties, other units of local government, or Indian tribal governments to implement comprehensive strategies for enhancing drug court capacity by bridging access to both criminal justice and substance abuse treatment funds. The program supports the development and establishment of drug courts for substance-abusing adults and that enhance drug court services, coordination, and substance abuse treatment and recovery support services. Drug court programs funded by the Enhancing Adult Drug Court Services, Coordination, and Treatment Grant Program are required by law to target nonviolent criminal offenders.
Chatham County will use the enhancing adult drug court services, coordination, and treatment grant to enhance the services currently provided to include: rapid access to psychiatric assessments to help identify applicants with co-occurring disorders, evidence-based trauma treatment and anger management groups, access to residential substance abuse services, increased community supervision, vocational training, educational resources to assist participants in complete GED program, evidence-based motivational incentive program, specialized training for drug court practitioners, and the development and implementation of an electronic management information system.
