Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $125,000)
The Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) will continue to provide ongoing support and implementation enhancements to the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) Law Enforcement Access Tool, allowing law enforcement electronic access through a secure Web interface to obtain information and resources necessary to investigate criminal activity associated with motor vehicles. The site provides law enforcement with data on vehicles reported as junk/salvage, identifies stolen vehicles, reduces title fraud, and helps to identify theft rings and other criminal enterprises involving vehicles. The vehicle title information provides law enforcement direct access to title, title brand, and stolen vehicle information from a number of resources.
