Smarter Sentencing Practices to Reduce Recidivism Project

The Justice Management Institute (JMI) will expand the training and technical assistance efforts of the Smarter Sentencing Practices to Reduce Recidivism Initiative. The training is designed for state and local teams of justice professionals (prosecutors, judges, defenders, and corrections professionals) to educate them on the principles of sentencing practices and the use of the best quality research findings available to inform sentencing decisions to improve offender outcomes. JMI will serve additional justice practitioners who have expressed an interest in learning more about smarter sentencing and the need for different types of information.
